Welcome!
The Pennsylvania Association of Licensed Midwives (PALM) is
the organization that speaks for licensed midwives in Pennsylvania.
PALM was formed to unify midwives throughout the Commonwealth
in every type of practice setting. The organization was created
so that midwives can speak with “One Voice” to
legislators, insurers, and to other professionals; about issues
which are unique to midwives practicing in Pennsylvania.
Our Mission Statement:
To be a unified voice of licensed midwives
in the commonwealth of Pennsylvania, to facilitate the growth
of the profession of midwifery, to promote the health and
well being of childbearing families and their newborns,
and women throughout their lifespan.
Objectives:
|
- Ensure the integrity of independent
midwifery practice in the Commonwealth
- Provide professional representation
at the state level
- Promote safety in women’s health
care in Pennsylvania
- Create statewide access to midwifery
care by removing barriers
- Educate the public about the profession
of midwifery
- Facilitate communication among all
licensed midwives of the Commonwealth
- Create and maintain interdisciplinary
and collegial relationships
- Foster a nurturing support system for
association members
- Support midwifery education and research
